The diverse floral habitats on the Capricorn Coast include mangroves, extensive beaches backed by dunes and heathland, wetlands and paperbark swamps, woodlands, and wet and dry schlerophyll forests. With this range of habitats in such a relatively small area it's not surprising that we have such a great variety of flora, this diversity is what supports the richness of our birdlife.
I'm not an academic and don't delude myself that this flora section is anything more than the work of an interested layman intended for other interested parties who enjoy a similar pleasure in observing our natural world and would like to know a little more about our local flora.
